I am a senior aerospace engineering student at the University of California, San Diego. My study focus is on aerospace structures and autonomy. At University of Southern California, I received a BA in Cinema Production then I got into teaching through being a digital artist and working on movies. It was then I started teaching the software and techniques I used. While a graduate student, I also taught communication related courses, like presentations, technical writing and technical training. Now I have an MA in Technology with a Vocational Education emphasis from California State University, Los Angeles and a TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) Certification so I am currently tutoring ESL and remedial English learners (especially learners who need to speak English on the job). When not tutoring my hobbies are science fiction (reading and writing), music, going to the beach and electric boating.

SCHUYLER

I am currently a student at UC Berkeley pursuing a BA in Sociology. My introduction to tutoring came six years ago, when I began trying to help my younger sister overcome her learning disability and understand complex math concepts. Since then, I have founded an educational science club program at a local shelter for homeless families, served as Co-President of my high school’s Speech & Debate team, acted as a writing coach for Berkeley-area middle school students, and tutored many private clients. I was also one of only five students in the world to earn a perfect score on the 2012 AP Biology Exam, out of over 200,000 test-takers! The main reason I love working with students is my deep-rooted love of learning—to me, there is nothing more exciting than grasping a new perspective on the world and how to solve its many problems.

I am a University of California, Santa Cruz Math and Economics double major that plan on getting these degree in the Fall of 2015 as a third year. Currently, I like to tutor any math level up to, but not limit to, Multivariable Calculus as well as Ordinary Differential Equations. I have been tutoring for almost 7 years so I love to share more knowledge for other math to other people. One main thing that not everyone know about me is that I have fell in love with math ever since I was in kindergarten. As of October this year, I will turn 21 and will still be loving math; hence, that's about 16 years of love I have for the subject. One thing I love to share with everyone is that when I was a kid in Vietnam, I was the top student in my school for all subject from kindergarten up to 2nd grade (I immigrated to the US from 3rd grade and onward).

I graduated from the University of Missouri-Kansas City in May of 2012, with a Bachelor of Science in Biology, a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry, and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. I also earned a minor in Healing and Humanities. For over seven years, I have tutored students at the elementary, middle school, high school, and collegiate level in a variety of subjects including test prep. I have also worked for major ACT test prep companies in the past. In my spare time, I enjoy watching the Bulls play at the United Center and listening to bands play at the House of Blues. I love to travel and have been to Alaska, Hawaii, India, Bermuda, and Jamaica, to name a few. With eight years’ experience as an instructor on both the high school and university level, my specialties are Writing and Composition. My undergraduate degree was earned at Tulane University followed by graduate degrees, M.A. and M.F.A., from Johns Hopkins and USC in English Literature, Writing and Media. My real world experience includes 10 years as a full-time Editor at several national publishing companies as well as the publication of over 1000 feature articles many with my own photography plus five books via Doubleday, Simon & Schuster, McFarland and Chicago Review Press. In addition I’ve penned screenplays for two feature films via Cinetel and American Independent. I am currently a freelance writer contributing to several national publications. My activities include travel to 25 countries , 12 years as an instructor of Traditional Japanese Karate, and motorcycling over 200,000 miles. My tutoring experience includes ESL students through both undergraduate and graduate school.

I’m a graduate student at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. I’m pursuing painting and film-making at the school, but my interests and skill set also extend into the realms of journalism, critical writing, editorial and education. Last year, I assisted in the teaching and administration of a holistic painting and drawing program at the Marchutz School of Fine Arts at the Institute for American Universities in Aix-en-Provence France. Before that, I studied English and Studio Art at the College of Charleston, where I graduated Magna Cum Laude, wrote a 60-page thesis on a modernist writer and spent two semesters as the editor of the student magazine. As a tutor, I aim to help students realize their potential as creative and critical thinkers, regardless of the level of experience or learning style. 

Subjects I tutor include essay writing, reading comprehension, literature, poetry, grammar, journalism, painting and drawing, art history (particularly impressionism and 19th century art), art theory, yoga, basic French and college applications.

I am a graduate of the School of Communication at Northwestern University, where I earned a Bachelor of Science in Theater. I focused primarily on my passions as a writer while at school, completing module programs in both Playwriting and Creative Writing for the Media, a program centered on film and television writing. I also studied acting and directing for the stage, as well as English, comparative literature, and gender studies.

LEANNE

I graduated from the University of California Riverside with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology. I am now planning to pursue a Master’s degree in Social Work. I love working with and mentoring kids both in sports and in academics. Outside of school and work, I love playing basketball, dancing, bike riding and hiking. I am also teaching myself how to play the guitar.
